what is the difference between baking soda and baking power?

what is the difference between baking soda and baking power?

I am making survival pancakes, end of the month?With the power milk and flour and egg thing.But it says baking power and all I have is baking soda so what's the difference? What does it do to the pancake anyway? I mean is it esenctial? ------
